KSU will announce at a 3pm presser today that they have come to terms with former Illini coach Bruce Webber.
Cats fans will be excited that Webber is a big name and has been known for his ability to recruit talent. Webber’s coaching ability is the only question mark. Webber was fired on March 9th after having a promising start to the season with a keystone win against Ohio State and a 15-3 start to the season only to go into complete meltdown losing 12 of it’s last 14 teams. Webber took Bill Self recruits to the championship game years ago and some would argue that after setting the bar very high for himself had regularly underperformed on expectations.
Catbacker’s take is that recruiting to Manhattan KS takes strong pipelines and is a skill that not all coaches possess. This was one of Frank Martin’s biggest strengths. For now Catbacker is very positive on the hire based on his recruiting strengths. The true measure of whether Athletic Director Curry should keep his job after letting Martin head to USC will be in whether or not Webber is able to coach the guys he recruits… Webber leaves the Illini with a 210-101 record. Catbacker is optimistic…. Go State!
Cheeeeese, I’m going to assume you are an MU grad based on your blind alegiance to a program with zero reason to be proud except the number of tv households in your state. So, your cherished coach Haith did what exactly in the tournament his year? Nothing. He did what against KState? Nothing. Unfortunately it seems this confidence/arrogance is unfounded at best. I’d love to hear some reasons why you feel you can look down your nose at another program. When you have success please let me know… I am a mizzou fan and a KU hater, but your comments remind me much of the arrogant KU fan. At least the KU fan’s comments are based in fact… Yours are based in excitment that a confernce asked you to join because you have a lot of TV’s in your state. HA! And no legitmate football or basketball track record… Please prove me wrong before you bash our hire… I think you are just a touch over excited.

This is a terrible hire. Illinois is a solid program and he couldn’t hack it there. I feel for Wildcat nation. I give him 3 years max before he is fired. Bad bad hire!
As a KU fan, I’m pretty disappionted in this hire. K-State needed to hire another coach that instills toughness, but instead went with a whiny bitch of a coach who couldn’t even lock down good recruits in the talent hotbed near his former campus. Bad move, Curry.
