Maybe the Jonathan Sanchez debacle is finally going to come to an end. This will undoubetly go down as one of the worst trades in the history of the Royals organization, rivaling anything Alaird Baird ever even pulled off and that’s not easy to do.
In case you missed it, Sanchez put forth another stellar effort last night in his most recent start. This time he was able to make it a full inning and a third! He also graciously allowed the worst hitting team in baseball to score 5 runs before he even recorded one out. His final line ended up at 1.1 IP, 7 hits, 7 runs, 2 HR’s allowed, 1 BB and 2 SO’s. Knowing Ned Yost he will say that “Sanchez can build of the 2 strikeout performance”.
Actually I think Ned has finally seen enough. At least I would hope so. This performance made it 11 straight starts for Sanchez without a victory and ballooned his ERA to a whopping 7.76. The guy has one victory since becoming a Royal and it came in his very first start of the year. His stats for the year you ask??? Okay here you go……..you might want to skip this part if you don’t like to throw up in your mouth:
In 12 starts (53.1 IP) the Dirty Sanchez has posted a 1-6 record, 7.76 ERA, yielded 65 hits, 47 runs (46 of which were earned), 8 HR’s allowed (he’s lucky that isn’t higher), 44BB to 36 SO’s, .302 average against and a 2.04 WHIP.
Those numbers are abysmal. In fact, I would venture to say they are among the worst in baseball from any pitcher making at least 10 starts. And the Royals just keep trotting him out there. The reason behind that is b/c GMDM doesn’t want to concede to the fact he made a terrible mistake. I guess he also thinks since he’s paying the Dirty Sanchez so much money he has to keep throwing him. Well Dayton, those thoughts are very flawed. Please quit torturing your fan base and send this guy packing.
Not only are the fans suffering, the players are suffering as well. How is a team supposed to fight for their pitcher when he digs them a 7-0 lead before they even take the field. It is pretty obvious in my eyes that the team does not like the guy as they think he isn’t giving his all (which it doesn’t appear he is) and they want him gone. Another thing that pisses me off is the fact he screwed Teaford’s chance of making a start tonight in a bid to become part of this rotation.
What I’m trying to say is simple, it’s time to cut ties with the Dirty Sanchez at the major league level. If they want to send him down to the PCL league and let him hang out in Omaha the rest of the year to “figure it out” that’s fine. Actually, I take that back. That isn’t fine b/c he will end up poisoning that young group of players. Maybe the best place for ‘ol Dirty is behind his hot Dominican Girlfriend getting ready to wipe her upper lip.

Sanchez was sent down. I’ll be shocked if some other team doesn’t take a flyer on him. Good move by DM to call it quits with the Dirty Sanchez. Lets forget about this horrific trade and work on building this team. Buy/trade for pitching and bring up the other prospects.
I think Sanchez is tanking on purpose. This trade is rock bottom for Dayton Moore. The facts are DM has not made the Royals even a .500 team let alone a contender in 6 years. The hour is getting late for him to produce a winning team.
The problem really is David Glass and his unwillingness to spend the money needed to be competetive. Remember, he didn’t create anything at Wal-Mart. He slashed employees and their benefits while he was there to drive more profit. He’s supposed to be a businessman which makes it hard to understand why he doesn’t realize that he’d make even more money if he invested more to boost attendance etc.
The question is what can we do to get David Glass to sell the Royals? I’m thinking it’s going to have to be fans walking out or simply not showing up to any games in mass protest. Then and only then will change come.
Once again…..are you just acting as if the Greinke trade didn’t happen?
Escobar is in my opinion the best all around shortstop in the American League YTD. Cain will be a stud. He was slated by the Brewers to be their everyday center fielder for the start of the 2010 season so if you don’t have faith in GMDM maybe you can believe the Brewers opinion.
I do totally agree with you about your stance on Glass, he needs to spend more money. Not sure if you want the team sold (unless it was to the Cerner folks) b/c they could possibly be moved to another city. Which would make me suicidal.
Yeah…Yuni is getting real old real quick. He’s had some big hits this year but his fat ass seems to hit into a double play every game I watch.
Just saw this stat…
Yuni, Frenchy and Sanchez take up 23% of the payroll. Is it time to cut ties with Dayton? He’s made a lot of mistakes and the Royals become who we want them to become with a GM that makes so many mistakes. I’m leaning towards GMDM needs to go. He’s not helping this team win. He’s making too many crucial mistakes. The 2 trades he’s made this year have been absolutely terrible. As a GM in the MLB, having good intentions and trying hard isn’t enough. I’m sure some of you will disagree, but look at his track record. He signed his lover-boy to a multi-year deal and now we are stuck with him. Frenchy went back to the player he was before we signed him and now no one will pay the salary we are paying him and that’s one reason he hasn’t been traded. He’s locked up some young players, but it’s just not enough. To be successful, the Royals have to be nearly perfect at everything they do and we are the opposite of that right now and GMDM is to blame along with David Glass.
Geez…that second sentence makes zero sense. ‘He’s made a lot of mistakes and the Royals WON’T become who we want them to become with a GM that makes so many mistakes.
Yeah….it makes no sense figuatively and literally. GMDM is not the problem and it’s not time for him to go. Not spending money on proven pitching has been and remains the problem. It’s not Dayton’s fault the Glass family won’t go shell out some serious coin for a proven pitcher.
Yes he has made mistakes, as has every other GM in baseball but overall the guy has rebuilt the organization from the ground up since coming here and “his” players are just now making it to the big show. It’s a little to early to just dump on him when his guys haven’t had enough time to shine.
Nobody seems to talk about the trade of Grienke so I’ll bring it up. Remember who we obtained in that trade???? I’ll tell you: Lorenzo Cain, Alcides Escobar, Jake Odorizzi and Jeremy Jeffress.
Cain has been hurt pretty much all year but I think he’s going to be an above average Center Fielder.
Escobar is developing into one of the better shortstops in the game. If he can continue to develop at the plate like he has this season coupled with his glove, then he’s one of the premier shortstops in the league. Him alone is making the Grienke trade a good one.
Odorizzi is supposed to be the cat’s meow and everyone’s panties are wet about him. We’ve yet to see him pitch but it does anything worthwhile at the major league level added to the two dudes named above and that trade is looking even more brilliant.
Jeffress is a project so who knows…..he can throw consistently 100 MPH though.
My point is, don’t bash Dayton b/c this team isn’t winning. He’s put a quality offensive and defensive club on the field that isn’t living up to expectations. They should be playing better. He’s also developed one of the best young bullpens in baseball. The only part that is lacking is the ever important starting pitching and we all knew coming into this thing that was our weakest link.
Now…..if he can’t convince Glass to shell out a bunch of money and go get a guy like: Weaver, Cain, Greikne, Hamels, Saunders, Danks, Peavy, Sanchez (Anibal), Demptster, Garland or any of the other top tier FA starters for the upcoming free agency period then I might start bashing him with you. Until then, I’m firmly in Dayton’s corner.
good post KCCM and good perspective
At this point it has to be Dayton and the Glasses giving Sanchez the middle finger by not trading him and sending him out to the mound when they know he doesn’t want to pitch for Royals. Then when Dirty Sanchez gets out there he’s saying “fuck you management, I’m throwing bitch pitches so you have to cut me”
Heard if Dayton options Sanchez down to Omaha, he won’t clear waivers. If that’s true and another team picks him up and Sanchez pitches well then he just didn’t want to be a Royal??? I’d be shocked if Sanchez’s career is over as a Royal???
I’ll take Sanchez wiping his Dominican Girlfriend’s upper lip, I only wish we could get a video of that.
