Where Are Chiefs Minds?

Coach pointed out in his Chiefs breakdown on KCShip that the defensive players are out of position and not using their heads. Coach said it could have been poor positioning by the coaches too. Either way Coach was pointing out that there are too many mental mistakes on the defensive side of the ball.

Scott Pioli yesterday also insinuated that the Chiefs players are not executing the plays like they are suppose too. Maybe he’s trying to save his and the coaches asses but none the less, he’s saying the Chiefs players are not executing like they have been coached too.

Today Soren Petro on his show broke down the offense and as much as everyone wants to blame Cassel for the offensive woes, which they should because he’s not winning games. There are actually more guys to blame for not using their fuckin heads besides Cassel. Boss, Hillis, and Asomugha (might be lack of talent with Asomugha) all had mental lapses in the 1st half of the Chiefs offense that ruined offensive drives or scoring opportunities. Asomugha got blown up twice stalling/ruining 2 drives, Boss fell asleep at the blocking wheel ruining a drive, and Hillis fumbled at the 1 yard line without the ball being knocked out.

These evaluations all say the Chiefs are having mental lapses on both sides of the ball by the players. Professionals can’t have mental lapses in the NFL for 1 play can dictate who wins or loses a game. When there are multiple mental lapses by multiple players on a team that’s when a team gets blown out.

I want to blame the coaches for these mental lapses, but considering most of these guys have all been playing in the NFL for years now I have to blame them. Yall are professionals get your mind fuckin right and get ready to play some ball this weekend or watch your whole damn season go to piss!

I think you’ve got to blame mental lapses on the coaches. I’m not a K-State fan, but I don’t see Bill Snyder’s teams having these issues.

You’re right that the responsibility ultimately falls on the players to execute, but a good coach would recognize that his players are young and learning and maybe see the need to simplify things and concentrate on the basics (run the ball!). We are one of the youngest teams in the league and we don’t have a vocal leader (Ray Lewis type) Only way this season gets turned around is if somebody gets pissed off and kills someone, like Ray did.
