Obviously this isn’t good news. Anytime your (arguably) best defensive player is going to miss a game, it’s a negative. But, we will be fine…Studebaker is going to be in the right place, at the right time, and I’m comfortable with him playing. I don’t see this altering the final result (win or loss). Where this could really hurt is in regards to the pass protection schemes the Falcons decide to use. I highly doubt the Falcons will utilize a 1.5 team on Studebaker…but, I am confident they would have with Hali. What do I mean by 1.5? Essentially, I believe the Falcons were likely game planning a lot of chip and release routes. This would have made it much harder on Ryan…safer, but harder given he’s losing one of his main check down options. With Studebaker, they will likely leave their tackle on an island and allow the running back to progress through his normal check-release progression allowing him to quickly get out in to his route if there is no blitz. We’ll see…..sometimes these things have a unique and odd way of working out. But, it would be foolish to ever suggest the Chiefs are better off without their pro bowl TAMBA.
Stooodieee is about the best backup you could have. Everyone was cool with him starting before Houston. This still hurts fucking bad but this team is strong enough in all other positions to win against da Falcons.
I think it hurts a little more than people are thinking. Especially with the banged up secondary (Flowers, Lewis). Hopefully Coach is right but only time will tell.
