If you haven’t heard Cal’s call after Eddie Johnson blasted the final PK over the bar to cement Sporting KC as US Open Cup champs then you are missing out. This is the oldest and most important soccer tournament in North America started in 1914 and gives an automatic berth to the CONCACAF Champions League which is the highest profile league an MLS team could achieve in North America. The only step bigger is to make the world cup team and play for your country. Follow this link and listen to the call, it is one of the best I’ve ever heard. Cheers!

I know what CONCACAF is but does this essentially mean the Sporting KC team could technically qualify for the World Cup? Is it possible for a club team to make the World Cup or is it only reserved for National Teams. I would think the later but I’m not certain. Any insight?
