According to Bill Self’s latest interview in regards to the Big XII tournament staying at the Sprint Center in KC, Bill says “Kansas City Is more of a Kstate, KU town then it is a Missouri town”
My first thought is this good because I want the Big XII tournament to stay at Sprint Center in KCMO so Bill is doing a good job of selling that by this comment.
Second, Bill is creating hype for the tournament this week in KC. That quote will fire up the mobs like no other making this a more heated tournament.
My last thought is if Bill is serious with this quote. Then has Bill ever done a recruiting trip to Liberty, Raytown, Independence, Lee’s Summit, Blue Springs etc. Those areas definitely don’t have KU or Kstate flags flying so how in the hell could he say or believe this a KU and KState town. Missouri is easily #1 for college football fans in and #2 for college basketball fans in KC…
What does everyone think about this?

The numbers are in, K.C is more of a KU and K-State city than an MU city.
Sprint Center attendance
KU game- 18k
K-Stage game- 16k
MU game- 10K
What is the deal with Mizzou and fan attendance. They were the #3 team in the nation and did not even sell out their home arena on Senior night?? Gonna be interesting to see how their fans represent in KC
Bill Self has never done a recruiting trip to those places. Would like to see him recruit KC more..especially with guys like Burk, Denman, etc. coming out of KC and playing well for other Big XII schools.
Rush, Graves, Hawkins, Releford…
I guess Graves and Hawkins were actually Roy William’s recruits.
Burkes was a very late bloomer and not really on the radar until late. Not sure about Denmon.
He will when he needs to, I believe. Just does not need to recruit KC hard unless there are major studs or he needs a backup plan. Hell, Wichita has better high-end talent than KC recently.
From a fan that has been to the tourney not only in KC but in OKC all but one of the last 10 years, I can say this, come Big 12 tourney time, KC is defitniely KU, then KSU, then OSU or ISU and somewhere way down the line is MU. I am not sure if it has to do with the fact that MU in the past hasn’t been very decent at hoops and so the bandwagon was empty or if had more to due with all the tickets being bought by KU fans??
obviously you don’t live in KC…Coming from a person that has been attending the Big 12 tourney events for the last 20 years in KC…I can tell you the order goes KU, MU, KSU,then ISU…Hawkster how was it 2 years ago in OKC when KU lost first round and MIZ won the tournament…I bet that was a fun time watching MIZ when the whole thing…
Check your records, KU has won the last 2 tourneys. That year did suck though. Not a lot to do in OKC after your run our of booze and drugs. I am just saying that when you go down to the tourney, pre and post game, there is very little MU presence. I know this year will be different.
That’s your opinion man because there is a huge MIZ presence down there…You probably said there wasn’t a huge presence at Armageddon when MIZ cleaned house on the gayhawks or any of the games where Mizzou beat the hell out of KU at Arrowhead! Its the same thing in KC and there is always a big Tiger presence…sorry to break it to you guy that doesn’t live here…
Well, winning 5 of the last 6 conference tourneys ain’t bad if you place so much importance on them. If MU had not won in 2009 than Big 12 would look extremely pathetic.
Bill is just stirring the pot, you got to love it!!!! It’s MadNess, March MadNess
Just a good parting shot at the Tigers but its like saying Bill has real hair
SEC baby
This is a joke, maybe stuttering Bill was misquoted?
Oh man, that burnout Jack Harry is the happiest man alive today as he now has material for the whole week!
Bill is trying to stir the pot I think. KU fans will gobble up that type of comment. They care not whether there is any truth behind it.
