Guthrie Scoreless Innings Streak at 15

Jonathan Sanchez’ replacement pitched another beauty last night as the Royals shut out the A’s 5-0 on the back of 7 scoreless innings from their starter. Arlo Guthrie is also badass…City of New Orleans anyone? Kudos to GMDM for sending Dirty Sanchez to the Smoggy Rockies and getting an innings eater in Guthrie. What do the Royals do with him at the end of the year? Resign? Probably a 4 or 5 in the rotation. Lord knows we have plenty of those. But do the Royals turn their back on production?

  1. Where are all those Guthrie haters that were bashing me when the trade was anounced? Crickets????

Here are his stats since joining the Royals:

    2-3 record, 4.02 ERA, 31.1 IP, 26 SO’s to 7 BB’s, and a 1.15 WHIP.

I know this is nothing to go crazy about but I think some people on this board need to eat some crow. Lightyear’s better than Sanchez.

5 starts don’t make a season and as I recall I disputed the fact that he would go .500 which he isn’t going to do and that he is a huge blower. Just wait.

      • He’s got about 8 or 9 more starts to make his case.

also….he’s already done more positive things for the Royals in his 5 starts than Dirty Sanchez did in 4 months.

I still think it was a good deal by GMDM to go get something for nothing.

I applauded the trade because Dirty Sanchez was so disgusting that if I saw his face one more time I was going to beat my imaginary dog. I did say that they would both suck and if one was better it would be Sanchez because I thought he was flopping on purpose to get out of KC. Good to see Royals are winning the trade battle, keep it going Guthrie

I agree about letting Chen n Hoch go but knowing the Royals they will let Hoch go n he will become a superstar at his next place….would like to get something for Hoch

Royals r two wins away from a winning streak!!! Blue Chiefs

Its amazing what BBQ and Beer can do for a guy instead of altitude and reefer.

Guthrie is making 8 million a year. He said he wants to be in KC because he likes the K for his pitching. If he pitches like this and is cool with 8 million for a couple years then do it up. Royals aren’t going to buy anything more expensive then that.

KCCM or DP- Give me a breakdown of where Royals starting pitching stands. I have lost track on hurt or potential starters for next year???

    • I’m fine with resigning him if the price is right AND so long as the Royals sign another front line starter capable of being a true number one. We can’t just be satisfied with them signing Guthrie and telling us everything is all right b/c really he’s a number 3 starter at best on a good team.

      As for next year’s rotation:

Hochevar, Chen, Duffy (if he’s back from injury), Odorizzi, Guthrie, Free Agent, Mendoza and others will all be in the mix. Hard to say what the rotation will look like considering it needs a complete over haul. I wouldn’t mind if Hoch and Chen weren’t a part of it.
