It’s that time of year again. We get to stop listening to sports talk over analyze the pre-season and finally see what type of team we have. We get to watch our starters play a full game at home against a play-off caliber team.
The home opener against Atlanta is an enormous game for us. The Falcons ranked #8 in the NFL in passing last year and #10 in overall offense. Most people think they will be even better this year with Julio Jones entering his second season ranking in the 10 ten best WR’s alongside Roddy White and Tony G.
Timing wise, this might be the worst opponent for us to open with since our best pass rusher, Tamba, is out on a ganja suspension and our best CB, Flowers, is not looking like he will be ready to play. We are also missing Kendrick Lewis at safety.
I think the keys for victory will be:
Run the ball effectively with Charles and Hillis. Eat up clock and keep our defense fresh and Falcons offense off the field.
Special teams. We need the Falcons starting their drives on their own 20 yard line every series.
12th Man. Penalties killed us in our last pre-season game……we need that to be turned around. We need to be loud, drunk, and more loud.
I hope we have a sold out stadium and our fans get off their asses and get out to the game. Hope to see a massive tail gate. I will be the guy hanging out with Bart Scott. Can’t Wait!
