AFC West Team Breakdowns-Chiefs vs. Raiders

chiefs/raiders

This is your breakdown of the entire Chiefs team vs. Raiders team. Read below to see how we stack up against each other…

All Raider information was provided by Levi Damien at silverandblackpride.com

QB Carson Palmer vs. Matt Casel- I’m in the minority here but Cassel gets the slight edge because he does not throw as many interceptions, has same playoff record as Palmer in shorter amount of years, believe they have same amount of winning seasons, both get injured, overall Cassel has done just as much as Palmer in shorter time so he gets a slight edge.

RB Darren McFadden vs. Jamal Charles- This is probably a tie but slight edge goes to McFadden.  Both are coming off season ending injuries but Charles knee seems worse so McFadden gets edge.  Charles is better at catching passes out of the backfield but Darren is bigger and can break tackles better. Speed is the same I hope.

FB Marcel Reece vs. Peyton Hillis- Reece was a pro bowl alternate last year so he’s no slouch.  Hillis when going a 100% is a total beast.  Hillis can do so much more with the ball and is a play maker unlike Reece so Hillis wins this one for the Chiefs.

WR Denarius Moore vs. Dwayne Bowe- Moore had a good season last year but he has not sniffed Bowe’s stats.  Bowe has been a Pro Bowl receiver so Bowe wins this nod for the Chiefs.

WR Darrius Heyward-Bey vs. Jonathan Baldwin-  This is a tie. Heyward has proven more on the field but Baldwin has much more upside.  Baldwin should win this battle but for now we’ll call it a tie.

TE Brandon Myers/David Ausberry vs.Tony Moeaki/Kevin Boss-  This is the easiest one.  We stole Raiders starting TE Kevin Boss and he is technically suppose to be our 2nd string behind Tony.  We destroy them in the TE position.

LT Jared Veldheer vs. Brandon Albert- I would say this goes to Albert. Albert is a top 16 LT while Veldheer is a bottom 16 LT.  Albert’s name floated with be Pro Bowl last year nothing was said about Veldheer.  Lets hope its the same this year.

LG Cooper Carlisle vs.Ryan Lilja- Cooper has been cut by the Raiders and they brought him back out of necessity.  Even after a down year by Lilja, Lilja still wins in a landslide.  Cooper is not good supposedly.

C Stefen Wisniewski vs. Rodney Hudson- Both are new centers for their teams so we’ll call this a tie.

RG Mike Brisiel vs. Jon Asamoah- Brisiel comes from Houston where he was a backup majority of the 6 years he was there.  He only had 1 full starting season 3 years ago so something isn’t right about this guy. Jon had a good season last year and Jon is very young.  Jon’s upside looks way better this coming season so Jon gets the slight edge.

RT Khalif Barnes/Joseph Barksdale vs.Eric Winston-  Raiders don’t even know who their starting RT will be and Chiefs just got one of the best RT in the NFL.  Winston wins this in a landslide.

Defense

MLB/ILB Rolando McClain vs. Derrick Johnson- Rolando has a buttload of talent but so does Johnson.  Johnson has put it all together making him a Pro Bowl player while Rolando hasn’t.  Until Rolando figures out how to be dominant like Johnson then this battle is easily won by DJ.

*ILB Travis Goethel vs. Jevon Belcher- Goethel is injury prone and hasn’t really even seen the field.  Raiders evaluate him by practice.  We’ll Jevon has been a very serviceable linebacker to good linebacker for the Chiefs. Jevon doesn’t blow the plays up but he doesn’t fuck em up either. Jevon wins this battle against a dude who can’t get on the field.

OLB Aaron Curry vs. Tamba Hali- 1st Round bust vs. an All Pro NFL sack leader…no comparison Tamba Fuckin Hali hacks to victory!

OLB Philip Wheeler vs. Justin Houston- Wheeler just signed with Raiders after 3 decent years at Colts.  Wheeler’s best year he had 1 sack while Houston had 5 sacks in his rookie year and that was in the last 6 games of the season after Houston was comfortable in the NFL.  Houston’s upside is still huge while Wheeler’s isn’t. Houston looks to be a much better player.

CB Ron Bartell vs. Brandon Flowers- Ron didn’t play football last year due to a neck injury.  Flowers is a #1 corner.  No comparison, landslide again Flowers is way better.

CB Shawntae Spencer vs. Stanford Routt-  Shawntae (what a name) is another suspended/injured player the Raiders picked up for 1 year because Cheifs stole Stanford who was Raiders starting cornerback.  Chiefs smoke them again!

SS Tyvon Branch vs. Eric Berry- Tyvon Branch is a very good safety and Raiders want him around for a long time.  Berry is coming off injury and no one knows how he’ll play.  Tyvon gets the slight edge on Berry

FS Michael Huff vs. Kendrick Lewis- Huff had to take a pay cut for not producing while Lewis had a great year without his boy Berry.  Slight edge goes to Lewis.

DT Richard Seymour vs. Glenn Dorsey- Seymour is still amazing! Raiders take this one.  Lets hope age and injuries start to plague Seymour.

DT Tommy Kelly vs.Tyson Jackson- Stats look much better especially in sack department for Kelly but don’t know how he does against run.  Tommy gets the nod here until Tyson proves otherwise.

*NT Travis Ivey vs. Dontari Poe/Amon Gordon- Ivey is a starter by default right now because Raiders have no one else.  So scratch Gordon and Ivey because they are the same.  Chiefs have the huge upside of Poe.  Chiefs win this position battle.

K Sebastian Janikowski vs. Ryan Succop- Jani wins this.  Guy has a dominant leg lets hope its not accurate.

P Shane Lechler vs. Dustin Culquitt- Shane is an All Pro kicker believe it or not he is better then Culquitt.

KR Jacoby Ford vs. Dexter McCluster/Devon Wylie- Ford is a beast and McCluster has not been good on kickoffs. Devon is a skinny fast rookie that hasn’t proved anything. Ford wins!

PR Bryan McCann vs. Javier Arenas- Arenas has one of the best punt return yard averages in the NFL. Arenas takes this one.

Chiefs win in 18 positions and tie in 2 other positions while Raiders win in 6 positions.

I didn’t get into coaching but I’d say Head Coaching and defensive coaching goes to Romeo but offensive coaching goes to Al Saunders.  Both guys have proven their NFL worth.

Overall Chiefs are the far superior team with good-excellent ready NFL starters in every position while the Raiders are where the Chiefs were a couple years back.  Raiders are filled with journeymen players to fill spots where they are weak.  Raiders are very good at QB, RB, WRs along with a good Dline and special teams but so do Chiefs to match them.

What Chiefs/Raiders position battles did my Chiefs sunglasses screw it all up?

Next up San Diego Chargers…

  1. I think the Raiders are the weakest team in the AFC West so I certainly hope we “win” most of the position battles. I think 2 wins is a reasonable expectation but we haven’t been very stout agains the silver and black the past several season. Need to reverse that trend in hopes for competing for the division.

On the grander scheme of things…..I think the Chiefs take the AFC West this year and play at Arrowhead against Houston in the first round of the playoffs. That game will result in the Chiefs first winning playoff matchup since 1993 as we hold Foster in check and do just enough to stop Schaub and A. Johnson.

We are such a young team (youngest in the NFL) and full of solid talent. The youth will come with some hiccups but overall the fitness level will outlast other teams and propel us late in the season.

    GO CHIEEEEEEEEEEEEEFS!

I like the concept but it would be more effective if you did receiver vs Dback they will go against etc. And please don’t do a broncos vs Chiefs because I don’t have enough time in my day to tell you why you are a crackhead.

    • Cheeeeeeeeeese says:

I thought about doing it that way but that would take more work. This way I can concentrate on breaking down each position and don’t have to worry about matchups.

Yes Donkees are cumming after the Chargers so get ready because I will actually use your bongripped head to keep it real.

  3. Stang says:

Good breakdown! Two automatic wins then?

    • Cheeeeeeeeeese says:

Chiefs defensive front 7 should eat Raiders Oline for lunch so yes they should win both games against them. This Raider team isn’t your Chiefs 4-12 team though. This Raider team is capable of upsetting any team in the NFL on Sunday because their offensive weapons, Dline, and special teams are solid. I bet Raiders win 5-7 games depending on injuries. Lets hope those wins come against Chargers and Donkees.

I might give an edge to Heyward-Bey over Baldwin. He was a big reach in the draft a couple years ago but has started to produce and he’s got serious wheels. Hope Baldwin can produce like we’re all hearing.
