Dwayne Bowe is in a predicament.  Bowe wants a high dollar long term contract from the Chiefs, but the word is Chiefs won’t give him that long term deal…

Since Chiefs won’t give Dwayne his long term contract Chiefs smacked the franchise tag on Bowe. The franchise tag pays an NFL player a top 5 salary for their position and for Bowe’s wide receiver position it is 9.5 million buckaroos.

I’m tired of NFL guys thinking the franchise tag is a bad thing. In my opinion its a reward, a gold star, a smiley face for a job well done. It means you are so good at your position you are going to get top flight dollar.

If a player really wants to be the best he can be to win a Championship, break record books, and make history in the NFL like Jerry Rice then he shouldn’t give a shit about a long term contract. Yes we all know a long term contract gets you guaranteed money. Well, why do you need guaranteed money?  So if a player gets hurt or he gets lazy then no matter what that player will have insurance money.

If you get hurt like Jamaal Charles or Eric Berry did, who are top 5 players at their position, and if they were franchise tagged players too then I’ll bet your ass any team the next year would pay them top 5 salary for their position despite their injuries. So why do you need insurance money for injury if your a top player in your position, you’ll still get paid no matter what the following year.  I’d say you are very unlucky to have a career ending injury.

The other great part of a long term contract is if a player were to get hurt outside of NFL that player would still get paid. So if some freak accident happened then that player would still get paid if a player couldn’t play.  My rebuttal is can’t a person buy insurance if a freak accident happens such as J-Lo insuring her ass.  So if anything happened to her hump she would get paid so why can’t a player do that with his legs, arms, etc.  On the other side of a long term contract you could be Ricky Willimas or Michael Vick and get screwed by a long term contract. They had mental breakdowns and couldn’t fulfill their contracts so they went heavily in debt trying to repay that long term contract.

I get guys who don’t want to work hard year to year or want heavy payday as their career winds down so they want the long term contract. But if a real player like Emmit Smith who is there to win championships and give their all every year then that player should be thrilled to get a top 5 salary every year. Even if the players production went down with age you would still start making veteran salary pay so no matter what happens, the player is going to make a buttload of Benjamins.

Dwayne Bowe’s 1st contract was 5 years for 9 million smackers and now the guy can make more in one year then he can in his first 5 years. Dwayne will also be making mucobucks with all his fellow all star wide receivers.

Now I’m writing like I’m talking to Bowe…

BoweShow, your agent is not doing you a favor.  You need to learn you created the predicament you are in.  You came into the NFL as a guy who did not work hard, was importing/exporting women, failed drug tests, dropped balls and have a past of being lazy when your butt isn’t on the line, in other words you can not be TRUSTED with a ridiculous amount of Clark Hunt’s money (even though 9.5 million is already a redic sum of money).

Bowe change the way the NFL does business for your sake and the future of other NFL players in your position.  Tell your fuckin dumbass agent you want to pave a new road in the NFL on how to do business. Tell your agent and the Chiefs that you want to sign the franchise tag contract and from this point forward you will only play for one year contracts so you can control your own future.  You decide what team you want to play for and for how much money on year in and year out contracts.

Bowe if you continue to be a dominate receiver for the Chiefs or whatever team you choose to play for the next 5-10 years you will make more or as much GUARANTEED money as your long term contract would have given you.  Its all up to you Bowe to choose if you want to work hard every year to be great like Jerry Rice and get paid the money you deserve, but if you don’t want to work hard year in and year out to prove people your worth then this will not work and you should keep holding out for the long term contract.  But for the sake of the Chiefssss I hope you sign the franchise tag, make a buttload of money, and have awesome production so you can control your own destiny.

(I totally puked up this post without doing necessary research and don’t even know if this is possible for an NFL player to do this.  It just seemed the best scenario for Dwayne’s circumstances due to his unreliability)
