KC Is Calling
Chiefs vs. Royals
Who really is the best (or in our cities case – the worst) professional team in Kansas City right now? Our esteemed colleague and founder of the Mothership always thinks I’m hating on the Chiefs to make my beloved Royals look better. The fact of the matter is I want both teams to be elite and battling for championships every year but the reality is…..both are currently terrible.
Goodbye Wil Myers
I am really nervous about this trade. I think anytime Dayton Moore does something there is reason to be nervous. I really like his drafting ability, I like his ability to construct a bullpen, I have zero trust in his FA ability, I despise his misguided loyalty to certain players, and now I’ve seen him make his first trade dealing prospects. And boy did he just send away some prospects.
WOW! Blockbuster Trade for Royals
Leave it up to two of the smallest market teams in baseball to rock the winter landscape. After a bunch of posing during the winter meetings the hammer has dropped when the Royals traded Wil Myers, Jake Odorizzi and Mike Montgomery to get their Ace in the likes of James Shields
Tightwad Glass Screws KC Again

According to Bob Dutton from the KC Star the Royals salary will be $70 million on the entire roster including the Latino and rookie roster too. If this is true that means Glass will only spend $57 million on the 25 man roster. Royals 25 man roster already stands at $65 million. This might explain why they might be looking to trade Billy Butler so they can shave some payroll. Just to give you an idea of where Royals stand if with $57 million dollar roster, look at the Cardinals, Brewers, and Reds which are comparable cities and they all have close or above $100 million dollar salaries. Glass is so fucking cheap I heard he boners his own face and swallows to save money on tissue cleanup.
Royals Sign Guthrie
It’s not the sexiest free agent pitcher an organization could sign but the Royals made the move to lock Guthrie up for 3 more years. $25 million over 3 years is the price.
I like the signing as the guy has at least proven he can pitch deep into games and doesn’t have a history of injuries. He really came back to life after GMDM dealt away the extremely disappointing Jonathan Sanchez to acquire a then struggling Guthrie.
Coupled with the Ervin Santana signing it at least shows the Royals are making an effort to shore up a pitching staff that was among the bottom of the league last year. I wouldn’t expect any other big pitching signings though so you can forget about Grienke, Sanchez, Marcum, etc.
Look for the Royals to sprinkle in organizational pitchers to complete the rotation. Guys like Hochevar, Chen, Montgomery, Odorizzi, Paulino (once healthy), Duffy (once healthy), Mendoza and others to compete for the final 3 spots in the rotation.
Happy Thanksgiving Royals Fans!
Let’s talk baseball and… chinstraps?
After taking some time off from the Royals organization and taking many long walks alone with only my negative thoughts to comfort me, Dayton Moore did a funny thing yesterday – he made a great move. He acquired a pitcher who statistically is our best pitcher since Zack Greinke. It really isn’t much of a trade because of the circumstances I’ll touch on below, it is essentially a one year deal for a legitimate pitcher that immediately becomes the best pitcher in our rotation. Well done.
It Take’s Two???

Chalk this one up as another awe inspiring move by the Royal’s organization……we will have TWO hitting coaches next season. Apparently this way we’ll only have to fire one as the year goes on.
Chief LaRussa?
Hey Chefs fans, would you be opposed to having Tony LaRussa take over as the head Coach of the Chiefs? He has, after all, been coaching in Missouri for the past few decades and does consistently kick out winners. Not to mention, unlike Romeo, he knows the right time to make a pitching change!
Just Depressing When National News Takes A Jab
