The Chiefs #1 need is a quality QB. I would love to see Luck or RG3 rockin a red and yellow jersey next year but it just aint happenin unless the Chiefs trade up…..which aint happenin either. So the question that Ploi needs to answer to is: ”Do the Chiefs already have a quality QB in either Cassel or Orton????” I think they do. And if Orton would agree to stay in KC for one more year and compete for the starting job with Cassel, then I really think we are going to see a quality QB emerge. So lets assume that Crennel is the coach (we know he loves Orton) and Cassel and Orton are both on the roster next season….then who do the Chiefs draft?
Next biggest need is OT. Richardson should not be playing in the NFL and I think Albert would excel at RT. Our interior line is old and small…..Wiegman is going to retire and Lilja is probably close to being done (he’s 31 and his small size means that his body has taken a beating). The good thing is that we do have young talent at OL that should be ready to fill the void at center and guard. If not, we will need to get aggressive in free agency at the interior positions. So we need a “READY TO GO” left tackle and there are several that we can snatch.
ESPN shows the Chiefs drafting either 11 or 12 based on a coin toss with the Seahawks. The top 3 best OT’s are: 1)Matt Kalil: USC 2)Jonathan Martin: Standford 3)Riley Reiff: Iowa

I think any of these 3 guys would work, however Kalil will be a top 5 pick and depending on what site you research Martin and Reiff are about equal. I personally would love to see Chiefs take Jonathan Martin from Standford. He is a strong run blocker and played for a pro-style team. Helps that he is a smart guy too.
Anyone think we should draft a position other than OT in the first round????
