Goodbye Wil Myers

wil

I am really nervous about this trade.  I think anytime Dayton Moore does something there is reason to be nervous.  I really like his drafting ability, I like his ability to construct a bullpen, I have zero trust in his FA ability, I despise his misguided loyalty to certain players, and now I’ve seen him make his first trade dealing prospects.  And boy did he just send away some prospects.

Let’s talk baseball and… chinstraps?

Santana-beard-Getty-203x300

After taking some time off from the Royals organization and taking many long walks alone with only my negative thoughts to comfort me, Dayton Moore did a funny thing yesterday – he made a great move.  He acquired a pitcher who statistically is our best pitcher since Zack Greinke.  It really isn’t much of a trade because of the circumstances I’ll touch on below, it is essentially a one year deal for a legitimate pitcher that immediately becomes the best pitcher in our rotation.  Well done.

Is Luke our Nuke?

nuke-meat

Well Ol’ DP caught some flack yesterday for some perceived negativity regarding our Boys in Blue.  It’s not often I’m called a negative Nancy regarding my Royals, but this has been a frustrating season.  You can look at our division and say we are five games back and be excited.  Sure, it’s the best position we’ve been in since 2003 – which when you think about it is amazingly depressing.  Let’s look further…

STL: All Class

morans

Get ready Kansas City.  It’s everyone’s least favorite weekend of the season.  The “I-70 Series” continues this weekend in Kansas City as the Cardinals come to town for a three game set.  Get ready for some Jim Edmonds jerseys to try to overrun the Plaza this weekend.  Get ready to hear the well rehearsed argument all weekend – “We’re sooooo much better off with Pujols.  No, honestly, everyone in STL was HOPING he would leave.  We’ve got David FREEEEEESE!!!”

Clint Robinson Has Landed

crash-davis

The Clint Robinson era has officially begun.  The 27 year old lumberjack has been a message board favorite for a couple years now.  If you don’t know who he is, then you must have a very fulfilling life and I’m very jealous.  Clint is the token Calvin Pickering/Kila Ka’aihue mold.  The guy who crushes it in AAA, inspires fans, and then ultimately disappoints when they get their chance in the majors.  Read more

He’s baaaaaaaack…….

wtf-hillman-larussa

Ned Yost is at it again.  The bunting machine is turning into Trey Hillman 2.0, which is sad, because I was on board with the Yost hire.  I like how Ned rode the same lineup every day last year because players like that.  I like how Ned attacks the media, because I think the KC media is terrible.  I love how Ned treats Nate Bukaty like the little bitch that he is.  However, there a couple disturbing trends I’ve noticed… Read more

DP’s Royals Prospect Rankings

Even though the boys in Blue are heating up, I still am anxiously awaiting some more help from the minor league system.  I don’t plan on Vin Mazzaro and Luis Mendoza winning a division.  So, let’s look at the farm and see what we’ve got.  I’ve listed my top 15 prospects.  UPDATE: Myers and Odorizzi just promoted!! Get it on.

Jessie Spano, Lou Brown, and Royals Rumblings…

caffiene2bfreakout2bjesse2bspano

Great win by the Boys in Blue last night, I haven’t been able to say that in a couple weeks.  Now that making further history has been avoided, let’s take a step back and figure out where to go from here.  Get it on!

Big Sheldon Can Play (for two more years)

SHELDONRICHARDSON6_5200

MU Football fans got some great news when it was confirmed that Sheldon Richardson will actually be a junior this year and not a senior like previously thought.  It appears a medical hardship was granted for his sophomore year at Junior College.  At 6’4″ and 295 pounds, Big Sheldon is the best Defensive Tackle on the Missouri roster and will be crucial as their defense adapts to the power running game of the SEC.  Read more

Royals do the 80′s: Goonies and Karate Kid Style…

347

Look, we are off to a bad start, Royals fans.  3-7 sucks.  No need to freak out though.  This could still be “Our Time”.  Listening to local radio hacks will have you thinking this is the “Fratellis Time” – but it isn’t.  Don’t ride up Troy’s bucket just yet Royals fans – never say die.  Get it on.

Mothership Readers,

I used to have a blog solely for my beloved Royals, KC Bullpen Boys, and now I am pleased to join the KC Mothership.  I like to look at the numbers involved in baseball and love some thought provoking Royals chatter.  Here are 10 numbers to look for as the season progresses.  Get it on.
